Stellar Vista Observatory is thrilled to announce the creation of the Von Del Chamberlain Walk Through the Solar System, a stunning, 1.7-mile educational experience along the Sherry Belle Trail at Jackson Flat Reservoir in Kanab, Utah. This paved loop will feature 13 permanent, full-color signs representing the Sun, eight planets, Pluto, the Asteroid Belt and a Beyond the Solar System sign, each placed to reflect their scaled distance from the Sun and packed with up-to-date scientific information and QR codes for deeper exploration.
Thanks to partial funding from the Utah Governor’s Office of Outdoor Recreation, we’re well on our way, but we still need to raise $5,000 to complete the sign installations. That’s where you come in. Vote for your favorite planet by donating towards the sign(s) you want to support! The planet with the most donations will win our Planetary Popularity Contest.
Donations of $100 or more will get a complimentary digital star chart for the day and year of your choice.
Donations of $250 or more will get an invitation to a private night sky experience for SVO supporters.
